Cranfield Wireless Networks

Please select the relevent box below for connection instructions.

IMPORTANT: When you have successfully setup the correct wireless network please tell your device to forget the "Setup Cranfield Wireless" network to ensure conflicts to do not occur.

University managed Windows laptops and desktops should come preconfigured to automatically join the correct networks. If you have issues with a managed device please contact the IT Service Desk.

Staff and Students wishing to use their own devices should use the "eduroam" and "Resnet Personal" wireless networks by following the instructions below.

Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune is the University mobile device management system and will automatically configure settings for accessing University networks and resources:

On Apple devices runing iOS / iPadOS install Intune Company Portal from the App Store and follow the on screen guide. Further instructions are available from Microsoft here

On devices runing Android install Intune Company Portal from the Google Play Store and follow the on screen guide. Further instructions are available from Microsoft here

Full instructions for devices running Windows are available from Microsoft here

NOTE: When signing on to the Company Portal app ensure you leave the tick in the box marked "Allow my organisation to manage my device"

Full instructions for devices running macOS are available from Microsoft here

Eduroam CAT

If there is something preventing you from running the Intune onboarding procedure on your device then as an alternative you can run the Eduroam CAT tool on a wide variety of devices.

NOTE: Android 11 (and onwards) devices must now use the geteduroam app as Eduroam CAT does not work on these devices.

These tools will configure your device to connect to Cranfield wireless networks but will not allow settings to be updated automatically in the future if required, which may impact service.

If you have been issued a guest account with a username starting "guest-" then you should use the "Cranfield Web" wireless network. When you connect you will be shown a login page that you can enter your supplied username and password into for access.

If you have neither a Cranfield issued username or a "guest-" account then you should use the "Guest WiFi" wireless network that is available in select areas around Campus. When you connect you will be shown a login page that offers a number of different ways to authenticate.

NOTE: This network is intended for visitors to the University and should not be used regularly by staff or students.

If you experience any issues connecting your device to these networks please contact the IT Service Desk in building 63 on 01234 754199.
